Pi Day

A handy mnemonic for remembering Pi is:

“How I wish I could calculate Pi”

You count the letters of each word. 3.141572 to get the first 7 numbers in Pi.

If you didn’t already know this then you do now.

That is all.

  1. Pie day? My favourite is chicken and vegetable but as I’ve been a vegetarian for a dozen years… Vegetable pie, gravy, new potatoes, broccoli, carrots, minted peas…. Mmmm.

  2. assuming one can count – there are 9 letters in calculate – not 7 🙂

fortunately 9 is the correct digit 🙂

if you use rounding for 7 digit accuracy you would need to write it as ‘calculate Pie’ as the following (8th) digit is 6 and so we’d need to round up to 3 from 2.

I learn something new every day! 🙂

  3. Thanks for that. Useful the next time I need to tell someone that.
Myself – I don’t get along with mnemonics much as my brain just sees it as more stuff to remember that’s completely unconnected.
I just know the first few digits of pi. 3.14159 will do me.
