I completely forgot about pancake day.
Which leads me to my question for today:
Where did the tradition of scoffing down vast quantities of pancakes come from and what does it have to do with “Shrove Tuesday”? What is “Shrove Tuesday” anyway?

Pancake Day is today??? I forgot too!
It’s the day before Ash Wednesday when Lent begins, according to the C of E calendar. Traditionally people fast or at least are less indulgent during Lent.
So, to use up what’s not going to be eaten during lent, they cook pancakes the day before it begins.
That’s where Pancake Day came from.
Mardi Gras is from the same origins – it’s literally ‘Fat Tuesday’ in French and it’s a huge festival down in New Orleans (so I hear – I’ve never been).
Yep, what Helen said!
Helen, I like the sound of Fat Tuesday.
Pinky, you knew as well? It’s just me being thick then.
Not thick; just ‘unchurched’.
SEE? God comes in useful some times ! 😉
Mmmmm Paaaan Caaakes…..

God made pancakes now??
