I hate this advert. It is too effective, too emotive and too frightening to ignore. How do we break the cycle?

Compulsory sterilisation at birth? Then having to pass a battery of psychological and financial tests before being granted the right to adopt or have the procedure reversed?
Or maybe we all NEED the constant ‘in-your-face’ kind of reminders that some people endure a life of disgusting hardship and misery, even in our supposed ‘civilised’ ‘rich’ nations, for a whole range of reasons we are failing to adequately deal with even while we make such huge progress technologically while finding no real solutions to crime, violence, stress, disrespect and anti-social behaviours, so that eventually enough people can get together and agree we need to find a ‘better’ way of running our society without waiting for our so-called ‘leaders’ ( who are becoming inceasingly ‘poll-driven’ followers to find it for us?

Love, actually acting like Christ is a pretty good idea. I don’t have to believe in the miracles to see the benefit of treating others with respect and dignity.
I heard Germaine Greer say this about 20 years ago and thought it was horribly presumptuous and offensive. Successive years and experience of parenting and other parents have changed my view considerably. I still fall short of advocating such a response though…just.
Damn it though I find myself agreeing with you again.
Ok – now it’s getting spooky!
Please stop! 😉
